The International Window Film Association which has been both a consumer resource, and window film advocate has helped establish a National Window Film Day to help raise awareness to the benefits of window film. National Window Film Day is meant as a day of public education on a solution to reducing energy costs in homes, protecting skin and home decor from the sun’s damaging UV rays, and to promote window film safety.

The IWFA recently released new data from a national survey conducted by Harris Poll this February that revealed only fifty four percent of Americans are aware of the cooling benefits of window film. Window film can make a serious impact by regulating interior temperatures and cutting heat transmitted through windows which can in turn reduce cooling costs by thirty percent.

More than half of the energy use in a typical U.S. home is due to cooling and heating the home according to the US Department of Energy. Cooling and heating is one of the largest expenses faced by most consumers. The US Department of Energy states that roughly forty percent of unwanted heat that builds up in a home comes in through the windows.

Climatologists are currently predicting a hotter than normal summer this year. For us in Florida that means skyrocketing electric bills!
