Before the Communist Revolution in Russia, there was a time when an American politician could run for office as a Socialist candidate and win election to the U.S. Congress, particularly in the Northeast. Writers like Henry George and Edward Bellamy promoted American socialism. Edward Bellamy’s book, Looking Backward had an interesting time travel premise. The main character was a Rip Van Winkle type who fell asleep in the late 19th century when the robber barons were exploiting the working man, and he woke up in the 20th century into a socialist utopia.
One of the lasting images of Bellamy’s book was an umbrella that covered the entire city. Rather than individual umbrellas which protected only one person while possibly splattering neighbors, the new cooperative spirit of the age was typified by a community umbrella which protected everyone in the city during bad weather.
The citywide umbrella has not caught on, but there is a variation on this theme available for families who need protection from the sun. One pair of sunglasses will protect only one person and only your eyes. On the other hand, window tinting will add a layer of all over protection for everyone in your vehicle or home or office. There are many advantages to window tinting. It increases privacy and upgrades the appearance of your vehicle and your home. Window tinting keeps you cooler, lowering energy costs in any setting. All of these are valuable, but it is difficult to imagine a more significant benefit than adding an extra layer of protection from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.
Floridians are at higher risk for skin cancer because we live in the “Sunshine State.” The younger members of your family are at an even higher risk because it is harder for them to remember sunscreen and the continual need to reapply. The Skin Cancer Foundation even puts its seal of approval on home window tinting as a valuable safety measure. Window tinting offers affordable protection for you and your family.
