Here at Solar Solutions of Vero Beach, it is no surprise that we’re all about tinting. automotive, residential, you name it! If you’re a customer in Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fort Pierce and surrounding areas, you’ve experienced the money-saving and health benefits of window tinting, but you don’t have to stop there! Did you know you can tint your bottles and jars lying around and turn them into unique and attractive home décor too? Get in touch with your crafty side and check out these cool things you can make yourself!

Here’s how:

  1. First, you’ll need to gather your supplies. These include assorted jars and bottles, Mod Podge (you can find this at your nearest arts and crafts store), food coloring, wax paper, and a baking pan.
  2. Peel all the labels off the jars. This may not be the most enjoyable part, but it will make it much easier to enjoy the finished product! For tough sticking labels, try running warm water over the jar and scrubbing it off.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine Mod Podge and food coloring. If you’re going for a variety of colors and shades, mix varying amounts of the dye in a few different bowls.
  4. After mixing well, pour the mixture into the bottom of your jar and start swirling it around until the entire jar is covered with color. Clean-Up Tip: Perform this step over paper towels to prevent a giant mess.
  5. Once the jar is completely covered, place it upside-down on a baking pan to dry. Clean-Up Tip: Place a layer of wax paper and several layers of paper towels on top of the baking pan. This will make cleaning up easy and quick.
  6. Let the jars sit upside down for at least an hour.
  7. After an hour, flip them right-side-up and place them on a clean sheet of the wax paper-covered baking pan. They will still be a little wet, but that’s ok. Bake them for 45 minutes at 225 degrees.
  8. Take them out and let them cool completely.
  9. Enjoy your beautiful new tinted jars!
