Even on the road, we’re looking for ways to guard against UV rays through automotive window tinting.

Did you know that even if you think you’ve protected yourself from too much sun, you may have made a few common mistakes? Keep reading to see if you know how to apply sunscreen properly!

  • Shake it
    • The directions probably won’t tell you to do this, but it it important to do so to help distribute the active ingredients throughout the lotion.
  • Apply early
    • Put your sunscreen on 15 to 30 minutes before you go outside. This is probably the most ignored step of applying sunscreen, as most people only think of applying it as soon as they lay down the beach towel. If you’re driving to your sunny destination, remember to put it on before getting in the car so it has extra time to soak in!
  • Use enough
    • A good rule of thumb for lotions is a teaspoon per body part or area: one teaspoon for your face, head, and neck; one teaspoon for each arm; one teaspoon for each leg, one teaspoon for your chest and abdomen; one teaspoon for your back and back of your neck. If you like using spray better, use as much as can be rubbed in to each area, then spray each area one more time.
  • Reapply
    • Regardless of what kind you prefer, lotion or spray, be sure to reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming or sweating.
  • Call in reinforcements
    • Simply wearing sunscreen doesn’t protect you completely. In fact, research shows that people who rely solely on sunscreen tend to burn more than those who stay in the shade and wear long sleeves. Dress for the occasion with a long sleeves and a hat!

We can’t promise that you will always be safe from the UV rays but we can give you the tools to help protect yourself. We can also protect your home from these harmful rays. Call us today to talk to us about residential tinting that can protect you carpet and furniture.
