The Grass Isn’t Always Greener, Is It?

With the arrival of fall we start to see subtle changes in the landscape.  Mind you, here in Florida, the changes are VERY subtle.  We don’t have major leaf changing events like states further up the coast.  Much of our landscape stays green year-round which is part of what adds to the beauty of our state.  While some trees and bushes go dormant and lose leaves in the fall and winter, most stay green.

But, there are changes.  Unlike many states, winter is NOT our rainy season.  So, while our humidity drops a bit and temperatures cool, our precipitation rate also drops.  Because of this, many lawns start to lose their lush green color.  If you are fortunate enough to have a sprinkler system or disciplined enough to move around a sprinkler that attaches to a hose, then you have a decent chance of keeping your lawn green year-round, if you so choose.  Many people are opting not to do this as water is a precious commodity.  We never know when we are going to have a drought year, so many choose not to use water for “unnecessary” things like watering the lawn.

If you look up and down your block, you will probably see lawns in a varying state of color.  There will be some that are lush, green, and thick.  Some will look faded as green and brown grass start to intermingle.  And, others will look downright dead, in fact, they may just be dormant for the winter.  Whether you choose to water your lawn through the fall and winter months is entirely your choice.  Some states have water rationing, but luckily, we have not had to resort to that.

Just like lawns, the interiors of our cars can fade, looking like less like their former vibrant selves.  Once faded, there is no restoring the color without re-upholstering the vehicle’s seats.  This fading occurs from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.  These are the same rays that “cook” your lawn on hot summer days.  A sunshade can help, but the sun moves throughout the day, so it will often find a way to sneak into your car’s interior that is impossible for your sunshade to block.

The best way to protect your car’s seats from this inevitable fading is through high-quality window tint.  At Solar Solutions, we apply only the highest quality window tint on the market.  We serve the Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Port St. Lucie areas up through Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Viera.  We are locally owned and pride ourselves on keeping our customers happy. The grass may be greener in your neighbor’s yard, but their car’s interior doesn’t have to be brighter than yours.  Call us today for your free estimate!
