Should I Still Wear Sunglasses and Sunscreen in the Car?

At Solar Solutions, we understand that the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays are to be taken seriously.  They can cause cancer, ruin the interior of your car, and fade your home’s furniture and flooring.  Those are some serious effects.  These are some of the very reasons that we believe so strongly in what we do which is tinting windows for homes, vehicles, and businesses.

Window Tint Protects Yourself and Your Car’s Interior from UV Rays

We use SolarGard products which are of the highest quality.  Our tint blocks approximately 99% of UV rays!  This can literally keep your arms from getting sunburnt in the car, save the interior of your car, and keep your furniture and flooring from fading.  We may seem a little biased, but we don’t know why you wouldn’t want your windows tinted!

Sunscreen Protect Your Skin from Burning

You don’t generally wear sunglasses or sunscreen when you are going to be inside all day, but should you wear them in your car?  First, we want to say that if your car windows are not tinted, then you absolutely should wear both sunglasses and sunscreen when you are in the car.  Second, if your car only has the factory tint on the windows, then your windows do not block 99% of the sun’s UV rays, and you also should wear sunglasses and sunscreen.

So, what about those of you have had your windows professionally tinted?  You are headed out on a road trip and wondering if you should still wear sunglasses and sunscreen even though you will be stuck in the car all day, not out in the sun’s direct rays.

Polarized Sunglasses Reduce Glare

It is still a good idea to wear sunglasses while driving even if you have tinted windows.  One thing that polarized sunglasses do for you is to reduce glare.  This can be very helpful while driving.  If you have ever caught the bright glint off a chrome bumper or seen those “mirages” on the road that look like puddles up ahead, then you know that anything that reduces such glares is helpful.

We recommend that you still wear sunscreen for long car rides.  You may want to roll the windows down for some fresh air and even that bit of time can cause a sunburn.  If you have a sunroof that you like to open or a convertible, then you definitely need to wear sunscreen!

If you have not yet had your vehicle’s windows tinted, then it is time you call us at Solar Solutions.  We have been in the tinting business for over twenty years.  We are located in Vero Beach, and we serve our surrounding communities, such as Sebastian, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, and Viera with our window tinting services.  While sunglasses and sunscreen are definitely helpful when it comes to sun protection, having 99% of the UV rays blocked while in your car is hard to beat!
